Weekend Traffic Alert Issued For Maker Faire, Minute Man Race In Westport

The Westport Police Department is cautioning motorists to be cautious over the weekend due to popular events that are scheduled.

This weekend, the Maker Faire will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 with several attractions being held around the Baldwin Lot on Elm Street and the Veterans Green. The following day, Sunday, April 28, beginning at 8:30 a.m., the Westport Young Women’s League will host the annual Minute Man Race.

On Saturday, Westport police officers will be stationed at busy intersections to assist with the flow of pedestrian traffic during what is expected to be a busy day. The Baldwin Lot will be closed beginning late on Friday through Saturday.

During the Minute Man Race on Sunday,  Compo Beach, Longshore Park, Soundview Drive, Compo Road South, Bridge Street, Imperial Avenue, Baker Avenue, Greens FarmsRoad, Hillspoint Road, and Compo Beach Road are all expected to be impacted. The runners are expected to be off the road by 10 a.m.

“There will be officers stationed at various intersections to assist both the runners and motorists,” Lt. David Wolf stated. “The police department asks that motorists use extra caution when driving through the above-mentioned areas.”
